Satin black steel fender seats |
Satin black is a hardwearing painted finish applied to the steel. It is a smooth matt paint, similar to the look of a wood burning stove. In photographs, it's not that easy to distinguish between burnished steel (metallic finish) and the black painted. And if you're thinking that black is so last season, heck, go for any colour you like: British Racing Green, Pillar Box Red, Tardis Blue. The club fender on the the right has a standard base with scrollwork and some twisted uprights on the returns. the plain seats are dark brown.
The price of a painted steel fender seat varies depending on which extras you have (eg, deep buttoned seats, twisted uprights) and the size, but expect a bottom line, including vat and delivery, of around £1022 for the formed base, or £869 for the standard base. This is not the fender shown above.

Painted steel uprights with oak base |
As an alternative to the black painted base, choose a shaped oak base but with steel uprights. The oak can be stained to a light, medium or dark finish. The pictures, right, show a light stained base with black uprights and suede seats, and beyond it, scrollwork. A typical fender seat in painted steel with an oak base is priced at £1210, delivered. Browse the Gallery for more pictures of this combination. |
