These heavy guage mesh spark curtains are fixed to the inside of the fireplace opening to give a safe alternative to the free-standing spark guard. When in use, the two curtains meet in the middle, with a slight overlap. When parked, the curtains gather on each side (on a larger fireplace, the rail can extend back into the fireplace to keep the curtains out of sight). Click here for printable order form.

Type one, inside fix - the pelmet will tuck inside the fireplace opening, either to the underside of the lintel, or to the sides of the fireplace. |

Type one, inside fix: the pelmet has holes in the top side for fixing to the underside of the lintel. On request, holes can be on the front edge for fixing to the inside/back side of the lintel. It's worth checking that your lintel can be drilled into (ie, that it doesn't have a metal support). The pelmet is finished in black paint (by default) or brass, and the mesh is a dark natural steel colour. The pelmet's dimensions are 38mm x 38mm (1½ inches square). The rod rail is used on all widths up to 107 cm (42 inches). The curtains will overlap in the middle. |

Type one, end fix - the pelmet has end-fix lugs for screwing into the sides of the fireplace. It's worth checking that the sides of your fireplace are strong enough to take some weight. |

Other options with inside fix - If the inside of your fireplace returns at an angle, we can supply the pelmet with a mitred return. The wheel and rail system is used on all widths in excess of 107cm (42 inches), canopies, two or three sided fireplaces or where side returns are required. Returns are normally 15cm (six inches) to allow parking the curtains out of sight. Fully circular fireplaces or canopies can also be fitted with wheel and rail system. |

Type two - surface-mounted pelmet (fixes to front of fireplace so curtains pull clear of opening) |

Uses a shaped surface-mounted pelmet with closed ends. For small fireplaces they are usually made wider than the opening to allow the curtains to be drawn clear. Pelmet available in black painted or polished brass. The pelmet size is 38mm (1½ inches) high by 50mm (two inches) deep. The pelmet is fixed either to the front of the fireplace, using keyhole fix, or to the underside of the lintel using a pressure clamp (below, middle and right). The curtains will overlap in the middle. |

When calculating the total width of the pelmet, add 15cm (six inches) to each side if you'd like the curtain to be clear of the opening when parked. |

Make sure that the curtains will fix to the intended surface by supplied plug and screw (beware metal lintel supports).As with fabric curtains, we allow one and a half times the width in actual mesh supplied.
